Manchester
So last weekend was our little trip to Manchester to see Kylie and what a weekend it was. Myself, Daniel, Lauren, Nigel, Ludo & Catherine headed over on the Thursday morning. We just about made it. The weather was so bad that it was probably the worst flight and landing I’ve ever had. I mean talk about dropping out of the sky and burying the plane in the runway. Well that’s what it felt like anyway! After settling into our respective hotels it was off for drinks, food and then back to prepare for Thursday night’s festivities. Started in Via Fossa (where else!), then on to Queer for some trashy pop (Happy-fake-birthday-to-get-requests-played again Lauren) and then on to Cruz 101 for more camp music and fun.
Friday was spent recovering and nursing our poor heads from the night before. Met up with Keith & Podge who’d treked up from London for the night. The concert itself was amazing. I’ve seen Kylie before and she really puts on a good show but there was something different about this gig. It was non-stop amazing from start to finish. She had to pull out of Saturday night’s gig because of a cold and had also cancelled the Monday and Tuesday nights too. We only really noticed she was a bit under the weather when she was speaking to the crowd. It didn’t affect her voice much on the Friday but obviously by the Saturday it was too much for her.
After the gig it was back to Queer for more drink I mean dancing followed by Essential. I never get tired of Essential. It’s always such a fun club with a great atmosphere and a good mixture of music. Came home early on Saturday and just died all day but all-in-all it was worth it as we all had a fantastic weekend; as you can see in the pictures! We’re definitely going back as soon as we can so hopefully next time round we’ll see some more of the city in daylight!
