Ch-Ch-Changes
Well that has to be a record here at AF.com! A theme/design that only lasted less than a month. Squible wasn’t really ‘feeling’ right after sitting there for almost 3 weeks. I can’t put my finger on it but there was something amiss with it. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on its development though. For the moment the current template is a hacked version of K2. It’s still technically a beta but it’s coming on in leaps and bounds in every revision release. Can’t wait to see what the final product will be like considering it’s so advanced already.
Another big change on the horizon is that I’m moving house! Since Keith’s departure for the bright lights of London, I’ve been searching for a new place. At first it was kind of exciting to be on the hunt for somewhere to live. All sorts of questions were flying round in my head. The possibilities seemed endless. The reality was quite a different story however. I viewed about 10 places in all. 2 were gorgeous, 2 were nice and the rest have been burned from memory by many hours of counseling! Seriously, the prices people were looking for for absolute dives was almost vomit-inducing! Seriously. Then there’s Daft.ie. Now don’t get me wrong, Daft is a fantastic site providing a great service to the house-hunters of Dublin and indeed Ireland. Its the users of Daft that I have a problem with. From the descriptions of properties that are so vague one would require psychic abilities to make sense of them, to the people who take pictures of rooms/apartments/whatever in near darkness (”Is that a wardrobe or a coffin in the corner there Mary?”). But my biggest bone of contention is people who don’t reply to emails/calls/texts. Now I understand that some of the more popular properties attract a lot of attention from property-seekers but a simple email/text doesn’t take too much effort. Oi!
Rant over.
Anyway, where am I moving to I hear you ask. Well I’m heading back to my roots and becoming a Southsider again. I’m moving to Ranelagh. Now I thought I lived close to work/town before but my God this is central. It’s going to take all of 7 minutes to walk to work and 10 minutes to town. Wohoo! I’ve had 4 great years in Dorset Street and I’m going to miss it but sometimes it’s nice to try something different.
(10 extra bonus points to anyone who noticed that the title of this post (Ch-Ch-Changes) is also the name of an episode of Popular!)
