Dr Slang to the Departure Lounge

The BBC has an amusing article on how “Doctor slang is a dying art.” A language used by doctors to talk about their patients without them knowing. Some good examples include:

Departure Lounge - geriatric ward
CTD - Circling the drain (expected to die soon)
GLM - Good looking Mum
UBI - Unexplained Been Injury

Back to reality

Manchester done and dusted. I have to say I had a fabulous weekend. It all seemed to roll into one big huge night out. I can’t distinguish between nights! It’s madness. Anyway, highlights of the weekend were: Via Fossa, Essential, The parade (with the spinning nuns!), pub crawling and the HUGE party in the [...]

Manchester ahoy!

I’m heading off to Manchester tomorrow evening with Brian W & Alan. The reason for our trip, Brian decided that we had to go to Euro Pride 2003. So that was that. Heading off tomorrow evening as I said and flying back on Monday afternoon. Looking forward to it as I’ve been to Manchester twice [...]

PodWorks

Podge pointed me in the direction of PodWorks today. It’s a very handy OS X utility that lets you take songs off an iPod. That was the only real draw back to the iPod, not being able to transfer songs from the iPod to another Mac. This is going to come in really useful [...]

Re-design

Re-design in progress… Reload to see changes.
UpdateOk, I’m almost finished the re-design. I’ve just to tweek some aspects of the CSS and some of the XHTML. Most of it’s done however. So far I’ve tested it on Safari, Camino, Mozilla & IE 5.5 on a Mac. Let me know if you experience any problems etc. [...]

Blink and you miss it

Seriously, was that the shortest weekend? This morning it felt like I’d only left work for an hour! Weekend was fun. Stayed in on Friday night and watched Dogma, love that Movie. Got the hair cut on Saturday afternoon, a new style (thank you Ian!). Met Alan and his friend Ciara afterwards for coffee and [...]

Intoxicating Liquor Act 2003

Ireland’s new Intoxicating Liquor Act was enacted yesterday. Congratulations to the Minister for Justice, Equality & Law Reform for he has just taken another step towards a nanny state. Some highlights of the new bill include:

It’s now illegal to be drunk on a licensed premises
Thursday closing is now back to 2300
The Gardai now have the [...]

Multicultural Mayhem

Just back from dinner at Mother’s. The house is truly becoming the hub of European multiculturalism. For dinner there was: myself, Mother, Alfredo (Italian), an Italian TV presenter, a German, a Spaniard & a 16yo Russian who’s father is the IT director of Russia’s National Bank. Let’s just say it made for some very interesting [...]

Hot weekend!

Fun weekend indeed. Friday headed to the G with the girls for a night of fun and frolics. Was nicely surprised by the presence of Ed & Ewan. It was really good to catch up with those two again. We have to have a proper night out. Was joined by others later. It was very [...]
